John Monterisi received his BA from Brown University where he graduated with honors. For a short time he taught English composition to gifted pre-high school students at a Prep school in New York City. He received his JD from Boston University School of Law, and practiced law in Boston for over 25 years.
After receiving his ESL Certification, John taught business English to foreign executives and consultants at EF Corporate Language Training in Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts. He also taught English test prep and introductory courses to non-native pre-MBA students. To round out his training, John spent several months teaching young students full time in Java, Indonesia with EF.
For the last several years John has been a senior instructor at Cambridge College School of Management, where he teaches Writing. John also coaches MIT students to help them edit theses, and works with students on their college application essays from time to time.
In all of his language teaching work, John has consistently garnered highest reviews from his students in their post-course evaluations.
John is inspired by travel and meeting people from other cultures. He speaks some conversational Spanish and, if pressed, a bit of Italian. On weekends you may find him up in Maine or playing around Boston with a 7-piece soul band.
